Campaigns 2018 onwards
Our Trust along with Rotary Club of New Bombay Seaside conducted a TB awareness campaign for the underprivileged students and their mothers. Radhakrishnan gave a brief talk on the importance of being aware of the menace of TB. This was followed by a video presentation on TB prepared by NMMC. An excellent video available in Marathi and Hindi. Later, the attendees were shown the Street Play that been staged on World TB Day by students in Nerul. The best part was when the audience clapped on hearing that the main character had recovered from MDR TB through proper medication.
A total of around 120 people attended the session.
24 th March: Today is World TB Day. Our Trust, Rotary Club of New Bombay Seaside and Samantha Clinic took out a Rally to highlight the Menace of TB.
It is heartening to note that Rotary District 3142 has taken up the cause of fighting the Menace of TB on a war footing. Rotary Club of New Bombay Seaside ( President Rtn. Manoj Thakur), and Dr. Mukul Thorat of Samartha Clinic and our Trust have teamed up together to take the take the fight against TB forward.
The Rally started from SIES at 9 am and ended at Nerul Railway Station, East.
At Nerul Railway Station a Skit on TB was staged by the Students of DPS, DAV and Don Bosco schools....... .
The Skit was a hit as it conveyed to the audience everything about TB in a crisp ten minute show. The Participant strength can be considered to be around 300 to 400 considering the number of people who joined in between and the people who spared their time to watch the Skit. The participants carried placards and leaflets on TB were distributed to people all along.
TB Awareness Campaign; Location: SIES College, Date : 19th March 2018 ; Attendees : 150 plus students.
As a part of our continuous campaign to reach out to the society and make people aware of the menace of TB, an awareness programme was held at SIES College. The students of the Commerce section participated.. It was heartening to note that such a large number of students participated and listened in rapt attention to the presentation of Dr. Girija Nair( HOD Pulmonary Dept.,D Y Patil School of Medicine). Dr. Shahid assisted Dr. Girija and he spoke about MDR TB. Under Brigadier Dharamprakash's guidance all present took the pledge to spread the message of the menace of TB in the society.
This project of creating awareness about the menace of TB is being carried out jointly with D Y Patil School of Medicine and Rotary Club of New Bombay Seaside.
We are also happy that the Rotary District is taking up this programme along similar lines to create awareness in the society. This will result in the message spreading to a much wider section of the society and go a long way in curbing the menace of TB... Of others aisi take up the cause of creating awareness.... We can do the siraf of TB.... Then control it..... And finally eradicate it. Without awareness it would be an almost impossible talk.
As a part of our continuous campaign to reach out to the society and make people aware of the menace of TB, an awareness programme was held and it was open to public. It was heartening to note that more than 250 parents and students attended the programme.
After the normal introduction, the presentation was made by Dr. Mukul Thorat. He explained wonderfully well about TB and the menace it can cause in simple language to the mixed audience. Backed up with simple slides, Dr. Mukul Thorat had the audience spellbound considering that the subject was a medical subject. The Q & A session that followed evinced good participation from the audience.
All the participants were then led by Lalitha Radhakrishnan to take the Pledge to act as ambassadors and spread the message of the menace of TB in the society. Booklets on TB in English, Hindi and Marathi ( in layman’s language - also available in the fb page and website) were distributed to all the participants with the request to pass on the vernacular ones to their servants, drivers, etc.
Dr. Mukul Thorat was presented a memento by the Trustees acknowledging his contribution in our fight against TB.
